With the busy 2105 wedding season now well and truly underway, I wanted to share what was effectively the last wedding I photographed in 2014. The Kelmarsh Hall winter wedding of Claire & Peter.
It was a chilly and rather misty day as I travelled to Church Farm Lodge in Harrington, where Claire & her bridesmaids were getting ready. On my arrival the atmosphere was chilled and everybody was very excited about the day ahead.
Winter weddings are always a challenge for any photographer, as the daylight hours are so short. Paired with the fact that a beautiful historic wedding venue that dates back to 1730, is not going to be necessarily full of light at the end of November. But this was a wedding I was really looking forward to, as Claire & Peter were a great couple to work with and it was to be my first visit to the splendid Kelmarsh Hall.
Once the girls were ready and with Claire looking absolutely stunning in her dress, the short journey to Kelmarsh Hall was made in a beautiful white Rolls Royce, which Peter had arranged for Claire as a surprise.
With family & friends all seated, Claire arrived at Kelmarsh Hall escorted in by her father and the ceremony was very moving, with Claire doing well to hold back her emotions during the vows.
With the ceremony completed and the legalities of signing the register out of the way, the light outside was now beginning to fade. Thankfully we were able to go outside for a brief time for some formal photographs, before everyone sat down for the wedding breakfast.
Following the speeches, the balance of the evening was spent with everybody relaxing in the opulent surroundings, as the preparations for the evening celebrations were being made. The cutting of the very impressive cake was completed and we were then treated to a beautifully choreographed first dance routine. Finishing off with Claire being dipped over her husbands arm! As Claire & Peter kissed at the end of their first dance dance, Claire’s sister (who was a bridesmaid), can be seen in the background wiping the tears from her eyes.
All in all it was a beautiful day and a real privilege to have been invited to document their special day.
Below is a small selection of images from the day:
