Kilworth House Wedding Photography – The Wedding of Samantha & John
My first wedding of the 2014 season was to be held at Kilworth House, which is one of the premier Leicestershire Wedding venues. As a Leicestershire Wedding Photographer this was a venue that I had not worked at before, so I was particularly excited. The venue has won many awards for its outstanding quality, setting and service, so I knew this was going to be a lovely day.
Set in the heart of the rural Leicestershire countryside, Kilworth House is a stunning Grade 2 listed Victorian house, and was built around 120 years ago. The venue offers a few options for performing wedding ceremonies, and today the beautiful Shakespeare Room was to be the setting for the start of Samantha & John’s two day celebration.
As only around 20 close close members of the family were invited to the ceremony, this made it feel a very intimate affair. Their wedding reception/party was planned for the following day at Corkers Wine Bar in Northampton, where they were expecting 100+ guests.
I arrived at Kilworth House at lunchtime, and headed straight to the bridal suite where Samantha and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The ceremony was scheduled for 3pm, which allowed me to spend a couple of hours observing the girls getting ready. I was also very fortunate to have Lizzie Haines second shooting for me on the day, and she was able to concentrated on getting some shots of the boys whilst the final bridal preparations were being made.
Samantha was being given away by her Father, who escorted her from her room down the very impressive staircase. It was just outside the Shakespeare Room where she was handed over to John, both taking a few moments to gather their emotions, before walking down the aisle together. The ceremony was quite simply beautiful, what more can I say. Having caught a glimpse of the vows during the preparation, I knew this was going to be one of the most moving ceremonies I have had the privilege to witness.
After the official signing of the register, the guests met for a drinks reception in the library, whilst the Shakespeare Room was readied for their candlelit wedding breakfast. With the spring sunshine fading fast, we did managed to spend a brief time in the gardens for some group photographs, before they were back inside to enjoy the rest of the evening at Kilworth House.
Sunday arrives to a rather cold and drizzly day, it’s time for the second stage of Samantha & John’s celebrations. Guests are greeted at the entrance to Corkers Wine Bar to the sound of Moulton 77, a brass band who Samantha sings with at Christmas. The music then continued inside as well, with Lincoln Noel the Maestro on the piano. Everyone had a great time throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
Following a couple of speeches, Samantha took to the microphone and sang a beautiful rendition of ‘What a Wonderful World’, accompanied by her son on Saxophone and Lincoln supporting on piano. This put the finishing touch to what had been an amazing weekend, and I was honoured to have been involved.
Samantha & John left a few days later for their honeymoon in Mexico, and I wish I had could of been there as well to document it. Oh well, you can’t have it all.
Below are some of my favourites from this fabulous weekend, I hope you enjoy.
