Hertfordshire Wedding Photography – Kelly & Kevin at Offley Place.
The winter wedding of Kelly & Kevin was to be my final wedding of 2013. The venue was the beautiful setting of Offley Place, which is near Hitchin in Hertfordshire.
Winter weddings can be very challenging for wedding photographers, as the days are short and our most valuable requirement (good light) is often lacking. Thankfully during the initial consultation meeting with Kelly & Kevin we had discussed the setting for the ceremony, as Kevin had a clear idea of how he wanted the venue would look, and it was to be a very romantic occasion. There were open log fires, lots of candles and a very welcoming atmosphere.
The ceremony was due to take place in the conservatory at Offley Place at 5pm, and with the winter sunshine setting the guests started to arrive.
At every wedding I photograph I feel it is vital that I introduce myself to the person conducting the ceremony in advance. Not only is it good manners, but I always like to know in if there are any restrictions that may be imposed upon me during the ceremony. Thankfully the registrar for Kelly & Kevin’s wedding was very understanding, and allowed me to do as I wished in order to capture this important occasion.
I was only able to spend a short time with Kelly and her bridesmaid (Kellys’ sister) as they were getting ready, and Kelly was clearly very excited, and she looked absolutely gorgeous.
The wedding had been planned to be slightly unorthodox, in so far as there was not a traditional wedding breakfast. The ceremony was followed a drinks reception and then some moving speeches given by the groom and the best man (Kevin’s brother). The guests were treated to a very romantic first dance (followed a great rendition of ‘Gangnam Style’ by some of the the younger guests), before relaxing and enjoying a buffet style reception.
Below are a few images from this fantastic winter wedding:
What a lovely way to sign off for 2013, andI’m really looking forward to playing my part at some more beautiful weddings during 2014, and would like to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
