“Every time we look at our wedding slideshow, it’s like we get to relive that once in a lifetime experience all over again. Steve is absolutely phenomenal at what he does, I couldn’t recommend him highly enough! He is professional, polite, non intrusive, friendly and above all an absolute pleasure to work with. We can’t thank you enough for capturing our day and special memories so perfectly”.
It was only a few weeks ago, that I had the absolute pleasure to document the beautiful wedding of Melissa & Ashley at Hellidon Lakes Golf & Spa Hotel.
My day started by arriving at Melissa’s family home in Daventry, where she and her bridesmaids were getting ready, of which one was her sister. The ceremony was due to take place at The Parish Church of All Saints in Flore, a lovely little village and only a 10 minute drive away. So with preparations all complete and Melissa looking absolutely stunning in her Maggie Sottero dress, they set off in style in a vintage Rolls Royce to the church.
With the guests all now seated and poised for the brides entrance, it was literally as Melissa was stepping out of the car, she realised she had left her bouquet at home! Thankfully a guest volunteered to shoot back to Daventry to collect it. So the ceremony got underway, just half an hour or so later than originally planned. Ashley just had an uncomfortable wait, as he didn’t know why she was delayed.
With her bouquet now in hand, Melissa was escorted to the church on the arm on her very proud father. The ceremony was beautiful and with all of the legal elements completed, the wedding party headed off to nearby Hellidon Lakes for their reception.
Hellidon Lakes Wedding Photography
I have been fortunate to have worked at Hellidon Lakes before and it’s a venue I always enjoy visiting. The sun was out, which thankfully enabled guests to sit on the veranda for drinks and nibbles, whilst looking out over the golf course and the rolling Northamptonshire countryside.
Whilst the drinks reception was happening, I managed to pull Melissa and Ashley away from their guests for just twenty minutes or so. A member of the hotel staff took us on a brief golf buggy ride, to an area that works well for some portraits of the happy couple. This also gives them a little time to catch their breath and prepare for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.
On arrival back at the hotel, the wedding breakfast got underway following the speeches. No wedding at Hellidon Lakes would be complete without a little game of ten pin bowling in their their own bowling alley. This was great fun and even the bride & groom had a go. With some evening guests now arriving, the party got well and truly underway.
Below is a selection of images from the day and I hope you enjoy looking at them:
