It was during the autumn of 2014 that I received an enquiry from Ashley & Alex, where they kindly invited me to visit them at their home to discuss their Crockwell Farm Wedding Photography. I had worked at Crockwell Farm on a couple of previous occasions, so I knew that this charming venue, which is nestled in the middle of the Northamptonshire countryside, would be very photogenic for their May wedding.
Once we had talked through their plans and I was about to leave, I commented on the guitar that was on a stand in their lounge, asking which of them played. It turned out that Ashley had previously played in band, I mentioned that I attempt to play the classical guitar and he was keen to find out who was my teacher. It turned out that my guitar teacher used to teach Ashley at school and because of our meeting he has now be re-united with his old mentor and has fortnightly guitar lessons, so we would see each other every couple of weeks leading up to the wedding.
I digress, but the moral of this story is that both Ashley & Alex are big music fans and are regular festival goers, so music was to play an important part in their big day.
Fast forward to May 2015 and I arrived at Crockwell Farm on the morning of the wedding to document Alex getting ready with her family and bridesmaids. Probably the main thing I had noticed whilst spending time with Ashley & Alex, at both the initial consultation and their pre-wedding shoot, was that they are such a lovely couple and great fun to be around. Laughter and lots of it was to be the theme throughout the day.
Alex looked radiant and was escorted up the aisle by her father, accompanied by music that was played by a friend on guitar, to one of their favourites songs (see if you can guess the name of the band from the lyrics). This was a complete surprise to Alex and it was a lovely moment.
Following the ceremony the guests were treated to drinks on the lawn before the wedding breakfast, which was followed by some great speeches. As there is usually a little bit of time before the evening guests arrived, a brilliant Caricaturist kept everyone entertained before the cutting of the cake and their first dance. I said my farewells shortly after this and left them as they prepared to party into the night.
