To be a wedding photographer working in Buckinghamshire is very special to me, as I grew up in this county. When I am fortunate enough to secure a wedding booking in this part of the country, I always look forward to going back to where I spent the first 20 years of my life. So I was delighted to have been asked to photograph the wedding of Diana & Mike.
Under normal circumstances I would arrange to meet with the bride & groom a few times before their wedding day, but as they both live in Nottingham, all of our discussions took place either by email or telephone. So meeting them both for the first time, just minutes before they walked up the aisle was certainly a first for me.
The ceremony was taking place at the beautiful and historic Holy Cross Church in the village of Slapton in Buckinghamshire. The 13th century church which dates around 1225 has recently undergone some major renovation, and you could just feel the history of the building when you walked inside.
The weather leading up to Diana & Mike’s wedding had been unsettled to say the least, as it had been raining virtually nonstop for a week or so. Thankfully the forecast was slightly better for the wedding, but ominous black clouds were present throughout the day, only revealing some blue sky later into the afternoon.
Diana arrived at the church in a convertible BMW, and look stunning in a most beautiful dress. She was escorted up the aisle by her father and her three bridesmaids and the ceremony was lovely. One of her bridesmaids (who was clearly a classically trained singer), sang during the signing of the register and her amazing voice brought tears to many people eyes as she was sensational.
Following the ceremony, we travelled three miles to the village of Cheddington, where the inside of the village hall had been transformed into a fantastic venue for the 90 or so guests. With the weather improving guests were able to enjoy drinks and canapes outside, and admiring the wonderful wicker sculpture that Mike had made at university. And it was amusing to hear that they had transported it all the way from Nottingham on the top of their car!
My wedding day packages are flexible and can always be tailored to suit the bride & groom. On this occasion it had been agreed that I would stay until around 8.00pm, so I bid my farewells to Diana & Mike just as everybody was sitting down to eat and it looked as though the rest of evening was going to be a lot of fun.
Below are some photographs from the day which I hope you enjoy.
