Northamptonshire Wedding Photography – Sam & Carl

Northamptonshire Wedding Photography at Staverton Park Golf Club, for the Wedding of Carl & Sam.

The beautiful historic location of Charwelton Church was the venue for Carl & Sam’s April wedding. The church can be dated back to the 15th century, and is accessed along a single track road through open farmland.

The happy couple were blessed with what was probably the first true day of spring, with glorious sunshine, but still a very cold wind which was certainly felt whilst doing the formal photographs at the church.

Sam looked beautiful, and seemed surprisingly calm leading up to the early 11.00am ceremony. It was interesting to see the minister embracing technology for the vows (see photos), and after a beautiful service they were then transported to the De Vere venue at Staverton Park Golf Club for their drinks reception in a vintage Bentley, but the roof did stay up for the journey.

As Carl’s hobby is shooting, the theme was very much focused around this. With some very clever uses for empty shotgun cartridges for the seating plan, and beautiful birdcages on each table.

It was a pleasure to be a part of their big day, and all of their guests had a fantastic time. The lucky couple were then jetting off to Cuba for their honeymoon.

Below is a selection of some photographs from the day:

Prestwold Hall Wedding Photography. Pre-Wedding photo-shoot

Prestwold Hall Wedding Photography – Pre-Wedding Photo Shoot for Amanda & Glenn.

I’m really looking forward to be photographing the wedding of Amanda & Glenn at Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire at the end of this month. It will be my first time at this beautiful venue, and that is always exciting.

As with all of my clients, I like to meet up for a Pre-Wedding Photo Shoot a few weeks before, as it is a great opportunity to catch up on the couples big day plans.

On this occasion we visited Whatton House & Gardens, which was lovely and quiet at this time of year. And it allowed us to wander around the grounds for an hour or so undisturbed.

Amanda & Glenn’s ceremony will be at All Saints Parish Church in Loughborough, and the reception will then be the short drive to Prestwold Hall.

Below are just a few images from the session:

Charwelton Church Wedding Photography -Pre- Wedding Photo Shoot for Sam & Carl

It would appear that spring is reluctant to come out and play, and the Pre-Wedding Photo Shoot with Sam & Carl was certainly conducted in sub zero temperatures.

Their wedding is scheduled for the latter half of April, and I really hope the weather does decide to improve, as the venue for the ceremony is at the beautiful Charwelton Church. Which fortunately is just down the road from Sam’s mother, so Sam and her four bridesmaids will not have far to travel.

It will then be a short drive to the Staverton Park Hotel for their wedding reception.

I’m really looking forward to their big day, and below are just a few images from the shoot.

Harrowden Hall Wedding Photography – Andrew & Louise.

Harrowden Hall Wedding Photography- The Wedding of Andrew & Louise.

Harrowden Hall in Northamptonshire is the home of Wellingborough Golf Club, and one of the counties most beautiful wedding venues.

Dating back to the 15th century, Harrowden Hall has so much history, and it’s owners once played host to Henry VIII.

Andrew & Louise chose Harrowden Hall as their winter wedding venue because it has a really warm atmosphere, and where their guests can really enjoy this grand setting.

Christmas has a very special meaning to Andrew & Louise, as their daughters first birthday was on Christmas Day. So with the wedding taking place just 5 days before Santa’s visit, this added to the excitement of their wedding day.

The bridal preparations took place at nearby Kettering Park Hotel, and was just a short drive to Harrowden Hall. Louise looked gorgeous, and her beautiful beaming smile was going to light up a damp and cold winters day.

Originally Louise had planned to arrive at Harrowden Hall in a beautiful horse drawn carriage, but due to the winter conditions the journey was made by car. However, the couple did manage to go for a ride immediately after the ceremony.

The venue had been beautifully decorated with Christmas trees in every room, and the ceremony was conducted virtually by candlelight, which any wedding photographer will tell you is very challenging!

But this made it feel even more special, and the day was full of laughter and tears. Just what a wedding should be about!

Below are some of my favourite images from the day.

Wicksteed Park Wedding Fair

Posted in Weddings    |    No Comments

We shall be exhibiting at the Wicksteed Park Wedding Fair on Sunday 27th January 2013. The show is organised by Silverlinings, and you can pre-register at http://www.silverlinings.co.uk

We will have sample photo books available to view, plus there will a slideshow running all day featuring ‘real weddings’, and not images taken from training courses and the like. Oh Yes, it does happen.

Choosing a wedding photographer can be a minefield. The images you see on their websites will obviously look lovely, there will lots of words about their shooting style and the awards they have won.

What is most important is that you feel comfortable with them, and will be happy to work with them throughout the process. Remember it’s your big day, and not theirs.  Consider this, you will probably spend more time with your wedding photographer than any other supplier!

One more small thing…..make sure you ask if they have the necessary back up equipment for when things go wrong (which it can). This can be taken for granted, as you do want to be relying on Uncle Bob (who has a nice camera), and your guests with their mobile phones to record all aspects of this amazing day.

So if you would like your wedding photographer to be a full time professional, fully insured and satisfied that they have the relevant skills to capture beautiful images of your day, then look no further.

Why not call in and discuss your wedding day plans with us. We would love to be a part of your special day!

If you would prefer a no obligation home visit, we would be delighted to come and spend an hour or so with you both in the comfort of your own home.

Who wants to be a Wedding Photographer??

Who wants to be a wedding photographer??

Wedding photography can be very stressful (to say the least), as there are so many things that are out of your control. Very long days, and even longer evenings tucked away in your office editing the hundreds of photographs that you took on the day. But if you are prepared to work hard and hone your skills, weddings can be so rewarding.

I can honestly say that after each wedding I have the privilege of shooting, I look back on what I could of done better. And it is this approach that keeps me looking for ways to constantly improve, and provide my clients with images that they will move them, and give them something to cherish forever. Now that is a pretty cool job don’t you think?

Photography is a very subjective art form, and what is art to some will be just plain nonsense to others. But first and foremost as a photographer, you have to please yourself. Hopefully you clients will also love what you do, and will then pay for your to professional services.

When the wedding is over and you have delivered the images to your client, it is always so rewarding when they take the time to express their gratitude with some kind words.

And in response to my opening question “Who wants to be a Wedding Photographer”? Well… “I do”.

Below are some kind words from a recent client:

Wow… What can we say? Steve has managed to capture every emotion of the wedding! Looking through the photos is like reliving the day. We have watched the DVD so many times and each time we always find something different in each photo. Steve is exactly what you look for in a wedding photographer, friendly and takes control when needed (especially for the harder group shots!). One thing we admire about Steve is his dedication in getting it perfect. He spent time with us at the pre-wedding photo shoot and delivered the DVD to us the next day. After the wedding we came back from the honeymoon, with the holiday blues and we had our photos waiting for us, which soon cheered us up.

Steve really delivered and our photos are better than we could ever have imagined, it rained on our wedding day but he still managed to make our photos look beautiful. We would recommend him to anyone.

Thank you Steve for all your hard work.

Lottie and Matty

Harrowden Hall – Pre-Wedding Photo-Shoot

Harrowden Hall Wedding Photography – Pre-Wedding Photo-shoot for Louise & Andrew.

Louise & Andrew run a very successful business, and the year just seemed to run away with us. So with only a week to go until their wedding, we decided to meet up at their wedding venue Harrowden Hall, for their Pre- Wedding photo shoot.

The temperature was showing minus 5 degrees, so the shoot was rather brief. But this still allowed us some time to catch up on their final preparations.

Winter weddings are always a challenge to any photographer, as the days are short, the weather unpredictable and general lack of (the photographers best friend) light.

Louise & Andrews youngest child was born on Christmas Day last year, so this was going to be a very special event. The staff at Harrowden Hall have the task of creating a warm and intimate day for the invited guests.

Below are a few images from our brief time together, and I look forward to blogging about their big day:

Crockwell Farm Wedding Photography – Matthew & Lottie

Northamptonshire Wedding Photography at Crockwell Farm, for the wedding of Matthew & Lottie.

It was on a very cold & foggy November morning, that I made my way to Crockwell Farm near the village of Eydon in Northamptonshire.

Crockwell Farm is a lovely, well established wedding venue that sits amid rolling Northamptonshire countryside. This had also been the venue for Matthew & Lottie’s Pre-Wedding photo-shoot a few weeks earlier, so I had a plan of locations for the formal photographs to be taken.

But as the weather was not going to improve throughout the day, I had to revert to ‘Plan B’. Thankfully Crockwell Farm has lots of character, with converted barns being used for the actual wedding ceremony, so we decided to do the formal shots there which worked out very well.

Lottie was getting ready in the cosy cottage that adjoins the main barn, and it was a busy hub for her bridesmaids and family throughout the morning. Matthew arrived around midday from the nearby village of Eydon, as he had been staying in a cottage that is also owned by Crockwell Farm.

Lottie looked absolutely stunning, and was given away by her father. During the vows Matthew did well to keep his emotions under control, and gave us an insight as to how emotional the day was going to be.

During the speeches Matthew gave one of the most beautiful speeches that I have ever witnessed, and sometimes its difficult to focus on the job in hand when I get an attack of the ‘wet eyes’. But that is why I love wedding photography, because emotions are heightened, and where absent loved ones get remembered.

After the wedding breakfast and speeches, which were staged in a massive marquee that is part of the venue, Crockwell Farm surprised the guests with one more party trick. A large section of the marque is parted to reveal a large dance floor area! And three first dances were performed by bride and groom, father of the bride and mother of the groom.

A lovely day was enjoyed by everybody, and the couple jetted off to the Maldives for their honeymoon.

East Sussex Wedding Photography

Posted in Weddings    |    No Comments

The East Sussex Wedding of Jo & Olly was held at St Stephens Church  in Hammerwood.

It was a real privilege to be asked to photograph Jo & Olly’s East Sussex wedding in early November, as she had been friends of the family for many years.

Jo had moved from Northamptonshire to East Sussex some time ago, to live (and work with Olly), as they are both involved in the equestrian world. Both are well respected producers within the showing world, and Olly’s family own a stud in the lovely East Sussex countryside. Now blessed with a 6 months old baby boy, the scene was set for a lovely autumn wedding.

An equestrian theme ran right through the day, as Jo and her bridesmaids were getting ready at the nearby Marriott Hotel which is located literally 200 metres from Lingfield Racecourse. Jo looks gorgeous in her jodhpur’s and riding boots, so you can imagine how stunning she looked in her wedding dress.

After a beautiful ceremony at St Stephens Church in Hammerwood, they were both whisked away to the reception by two champion scurry ponies. This was a total surprise to Jo, and she braved the November weather for the the short ride (at some pace I hasten to add).

The reception was being staged at Olly’s family home, where a huge marquis had been erected. Just before the wedding breakfast the guests were treated to some some terrier racing, which created some great moments for me, especially the ‘groomsmen’s race’. Which was more like a in a rugby scrum that a foot race! The evening was rounded of with some great live music.

Below are just some of my favourite images from the day:

Harrowden Hall – Wedding Photography

Harrowden Hall – the home of Wellingborough Golf Club, was the grand venue for Carl & Rebecca’s recent autumn wedding.

Although a bitterly cold autumn day, the sun gods were clearly shining down, and Harrowden Hall, near Wellingborough, Northants could not have looked any better.

Rebecca chose to get ready at home, and looked amazing in her gorgeous dress. She was then transported in a beautiful vintage Rolls Royce, which looked very much suited driving into the grounds of this stunning 15th century house. A beautiful ceremony was conducted in the hall itself, and the invited guests had the freedom to wander around the splendid gardens before the wedding breakfast.

Whilst doing the formal group shots, we experienced all four seasons within the space of 30 minutes. We had sun, rain, sleet and snow! I had intended to keep this part of the day as brief as possible, before everybody has red noses from the chill in the air. Live music rounded off the evening, and everybody clearly had a fantastic day.
